Hi Paddlers!
Due to the excessive number of damaged boats at Bank Street and the remaining healthy ones being sent out to Penrith on Friday night, we will not be able to train on Saturday morning.
We'll keep you updated with our next planned session.
Hello everyone,
Different Strokes is hosting the second of two beginners paddle sessions, from 10am-11am this Saturday (10th March, 2012).
If you would like to attend please email Ray Bennie (coaching team) by close of business, Thursday 8th March:
Email Ray directly on: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
Anyone is welcome including those who attended the 1st hour long session, those who attended the open day paddle, or even those who have not paddled before. But please RSVP so that we can have adequate resources available.

Fair Day
It's Mardi Gras season! If you'll be checking out Fair Day, be sure to swing by the Different Strokes stall, located with the other Team Sydney sports stalls, near the Main Stage and Sea of Hearts (link to map). Paddlers will be manning the stall and will be more than happy to chat about the sport, if you're still fuzzy about what it is exactly, and whether or not it's something you'll be interested in (it most likely will be!).
You'll also have the opportunity to register for our next social paddle...
Social Paddle
Different Strokes will be running a social paddle and sausage sizzle on Saturday, 18th March 2012, as a part of the Team Sydney Mardi Gras Sports Festival.

Dragon boat paddling is a great sport for building core strength and improving your aerobic fitness. Our social paddle is a a great chance to experience what this sport is all about. The day will start at 10am at Blackwattle Bay (near the Fish Markets) and will run for about 30 mins. Then it's off the water for a bite to eat, and a chat with our existing club members, as well as others new to the sport.
See the Training Information page for more details about where we train, what to wear, and what to expect.
Register your interest for our next social paddle by contacting Mat Anderson via email ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ) or phone (0418 737 678).

Congratulations to our state team members

A number of our club members have made it to the NSW State Team!
Congratulations to Anna, Alison C, Bruce, Lawrence, Mat, Matthew, Ray and Will. What a fantastic effort! A few other people trialled and just missed out, but speaking with them today they have plans to try again next year. So well done all: I am very proud of all of you!
As the folk mentioned above start their new adventure as members of the State team, it is a good time for all of us to start thinking about the regattas ahead of us for the rest of this season. These regattas will culminate in the Australian Club Championships that start on the day after the State vs State championships in Melbourne.
Tan mentioned today at training that from here on in we will be expecting that all club members will be attending every regatta unless they advise otherwise. I realise that the Australian Club Championships is a big commitment however, so the Committee is working on getting as much information together as possible to help you plan/consider. We will be sending this out over the next few weeks so watch out for it.
Have a good weekend everyone and see on Tuesday night for our first Tuesday session.
