Taking It To Taiwan: Seeking Expressions of Interest - EOIs close 23 June 2025

Different Strokes has been invited to race at the 15th IDBF Club Crew World Championships, Liyu Lake, Hualien County, Taiwan (5-10 September 2026). We have qualified in the following categories:

  • Premier mixed standard boat

  • Premier women standard boat

  • Senior A mixed standard boat

  • Senior A women standard boat

  • Senior A open standard boat

Racing opportunities include 200 m, 500 m and 2000 m across the above listed categories.

We are now seeking members interested in being part of this opportunity to:

Campaign Selection timeline 

The preliminary Campaign Program and Timeline is as follows:

  • Tuesday 10 June 2025 - Request for EOIs from members

  • Monday 23 June 2025 - EOI close off date

  • Sunday 6 July 2025 (or prior) - CCWC attendance confirmed to members 

  • Sunday 13 July 2025- Detailed selection process released

  • Sunday 3 August 2025 - RSVP to trial 

  • September 2025 - Strength and fitness benchmarking and water trial

  • October 2025 - Squad announced.

Full details of the selection process will be released in July, and the remainder of the campaign timeline will be released in August. 

Campaign Travel Dates

The preliminary Campaign Dates inclusive of travel are as follows:

  • Monday 31st August 2026 - Arrive in Taiwan

  • Tuesday 1st September 2026 - Rest day

  • Wednesday 2nd September 2026 - Training day 1 

  • Thursday 3rd September 2026 - Training day 2 plus team dinner

  • Friday 4th September 2026 - Rest day

  • Saturday 5th September 2026 - Competition commences

  • Thursday 10th September 2026 - Campaign concludes

Training expectations

Full details will be released in August 2025. However training/racing expectations will likely include:

  • Attendance at all points regattas plus Lunar New Year, State titles and nationals (Queensland)

  • Strength and fitness 2-3 per week (land sessions). Possible wkd group sessions.

  • Single craft 1-2 per week

  • Dragon boat sessions 3 - 4 per week

  • Regular strength and fitness benchmarking

  • Educational sessions / mini camps (3 x weekends) 

  • Additional team gatherings (social and development)

Frequency / duration of each component may vary depending on the point in the season and the campaign.

Time & Financial Cost

Financial details are still to be confirmed however a rough campaign cost is $4,000 per person. This assumes 10 days overseas with shared accommodation and local travel to and from the race site. This does not include any additional travel or leisure. 

Attendance at Australian Championships is an expectation of the campaign. Rough cost is $1,500 per person. Race dates are still to be announced, but is expected to follow a similar format to the last event (6 days). Allow an additional day either side for travel. 

How to express interest

To express interest in joining the Taking It To Taiwan 2026 campaign, complete the following steps:

  1. Complete a 2000 m Indoor Row benchmark (see instructions attached)

  2. Submit your Indoor Row result using this form: LINK 

  3. Submit your EOI by RSVPing to this event. Please select only Yes or No.

EOIs will close off on 23rd June 2025 and we will be able to announce by 6 July 2025 if we have the numbers to proceed.
